One thing I have learned about Nick and Ann is they LOVE to laugh. This is one of the reasons I called this post a “Funny and Cool Wedding”. It was all that and more.
Nick and Ann have known one another for over 25 years. They reconnected and started dating about 5 years ago which led to Nick proposing to Ann on a beautiful September day in Barcelona, Spain. “We were exploring Park Guell and went to the highest part of the park, known as the 3 crosses, where you can see almost all of Barcelona. Once up there, Nick got down on one knee and popped the question”. So romantic and way to go, Nick. That’s a great proposal.
The wedding was just as romantic. First of all, they were married on literally the prettiest day of the year. The wedding color was blush with the theme, like the venue, being rustic elegance. The couple wanted things to be formal, but a “little unique and fun”. The ceremony was located a beautiful 2 minutes stroll from the Inn on the grounds under a beautiful flower adorned pergola. Some favorite moments from this wedding were the toasts. Ann’s sisters and daughter, Taylor, gave a co-toast together ad had so many funny stories to tell. Lots of laughing. Nick’s Mom chose to treat all the guests to her rendition of “At Last” during dinner. Nick and his siblings grew up hearing her sing this song and tears and smiles were everywhere as she finished her last note. Finally, Nick’s brother, THE John Galecki (Leonard Hofstadter from The Big Bang Theory) gave the best man speech which had everyone roaring. He, like the rest of the family, obviously has the gift of comedy. The coolest, funniest, nicest families have just been combined. What a great match.
A touch I haven’t seen at many weddings that I thought made perfect sense and really says a lot about how “cool” Nick and Ann are is they gave away all their centerpieces at the end of the night. Whoever’s birthday was closest to their wedding date got to take home the flower at each table. Who needs 20 centerpieces the day after their wedding, anyway? What a novel idea. Also, a fun chance for guests to get to know more about one another and chat.
