Like most of us affected by the stay-at-home order, I have officially cleaned out every closet in my house and have moved onto something really fun……… blogging.  Besides actual wedding days, blogging is one of my favorite tasks I do for my business.  It’s so fun to pick my favorite images and write about the couple’s unique days.

Kelly and Mike were married in a Catholic ceremony and had their reception in Aurora, Il at the Paramount Meyer Ballroom.  I first have to tell you about something really funny that happened.  Every wedding day is unpredictable, and unique, as I always say.  During the ceremony, when the best man handed the rings off to the priest, the ring was accidentally dropped and must have rolled a LONG ways because it took a while to find.  Eventually, there were guests and even the priest down on their hands and knees looking around for the ring.  One of the groomsmen finally found it in about the 4th row on the grooms side and everyone had a little chuckle, let out a sigh of relief, and continued on with their beautiful ceremony.  I loved how calm everyone was and they worked together, even though it took a good 4-5 minutes to find the wedding band.

This was the first time I’ve photographed a wedding at the Meyer Ballroom, so I was excited.  New locations really open up my creativity AND I was looking forward to working downtown Aurora.  It ended up being a really pretty day and after the ceremony, we wandered around downtown for a bit taking pictures with the bride, groom, and their wedding party.

I asked Kelly and Mike to describe a detail or two that was really special to them about their wedding.

• Kelly: The morning of our wedding day, my cousin Kathy presented me with my late Aunt’s nursing school pin. This gesture was so sweet and meant a lot because I worked extremely hard for my nursing degree and have been working as a nurse the past few years. I decided the best way to honor her was to attach the pin to my wedding bouquet as a “something borrowed.” I definitely felt her spirit that day.
• Mike: For me it was standing up by the altar waiting for Kelly to walk down the aisle. It was especially exciting when the doors opened and I was finally able to see her in her dress. I just remember saying, “Wow!!” as she walked down the aisle.

Advice from the couple to couples in the process of wedding planning:

• Try not to sweat the small stuff, seriously! There are a lot of decisions to be made regarding your big day and in the end, little hiccups will not matter. The most important thing to remember is it is a day to celebrate the love between you and your significant other while having the most important people there to celebrate with you.
