I photographed this White Eagle Golf Club wedding in Naperville, Illinois.

The first time I met Brad and Brittany, they pulled up to my office riding Brad’s super cool motorcycle and looking as bad-ass as they actually are in real life. Tomorrow is Halloween, so I thought it would be fun to share this rainy day shoot with you all complete with Batman, Superman, and Supergirl. fun family photography shoot – Elite Photo

Eight years ago this month, I photographed a beautiful wedding of two very wonderful people. Since then, I have had the privilege of photographing their family multiple other times. I photographed their first and third children the week after they were born. I have photographed family get togethers, birthdays, and special moments they wanted captured and have been grateful every time. It’s always a treat when I get to work with this family and this was no exception. We knew there was a chance of bad weather this day, but they were coming from sort of far away and it looked like the bad weather had passed. Well, we got about ten minutes into the shoot and all of a sudden it was raining. It continued to rain throughout the whole rest of the time, but we decided to have fun with it and that’s what we did. I pulled out some umbrellas, we found some cover, and photographed some fun portraits. Then Erin and Mike helped the kids change into some super outfits and brought along some of their “favorite things” to do for fun.

We had a ball playing dress up and super heros in the warm rain and got to see the kids personalities shine. Adam and Yvonne were married at St. Patricks Catholic Church in downtown St. Charles and they had their wedding reception at Kuipers Family Farm in Maple Park, Illinois. It was a perfect summer day in August and Yvonne and Adam really made it unique and special.

Before I say any more about this couples wedding, I just have to point out that AJ and Yvonne originally were neighbors and first met when she was trying to change a light bulb on the outside of her building. He saw she was struggling and offered to help. She repaid him with a six pack and good conversation on their front porch and the rest was history. Love that they met changing a light bulb. So random.

One of my very favorite details of the wedding day was Yvonne’s dress. It was stunning. She wore a Casablanca gown from the Crystal Bride in Geneva, IL. The back and the sides of this dress were so beautiful and it came with an extra bonus of pockets. On the inside, Yvonne and her Mom added some extra touches. They sewed a heart from her late Father’s shirt into the bodice and a piece of each of her Grandmother, Mom, and her dresses was sewn into the bottom hem of the dress made to look like a heart. As I photographed this family and all of the girls getting ready at their family home, they pointed out so many great memories and home-made touches throughout the house that really showed how much love and kindness there is in this family. Yvonne also chose to wear her Grandmother’s necklace.

After a beautiful ceremony with a fun bubble exit, the guests headed to the family farm for a beautiful outdoor cocktail hour by the silo/bar. Yvonne and AJ got the idea for a Mr. Rodger’s Neighborhood styled theme from the real train on the farm. All the guests, not just the kids, enjoyed train rides, horse shoes, and bean bags during cocktails. After dinner, the dance floor was packed with tons of dancing with music stylings by Hector from Midwest Best DJs. I don’t know if Yvonne ever stopped dancing. There was a doughnut bar with toppings made from Kuipers homemade apple cider doughnuts.

To top it all off, we made sure to save time for some dreamy photos of the couple and AJ’s girls in the apple orchard at dusk. Today, I am so happy to finally share this amazing Indian American fusion farm wedding with the world. This day was filled with great moment after moment. The day started out with some apprehension as it was supposed to rain the whole day, but as the morning progressed, things began to clear a little more each hour. Nehal and Lenel were not worried and just went about the day looking forward to being married and seeing each other for the first time during the ceremony.

Lenel arrived and began her preparations in the bridal coop. This unique dome shaped building is just for the bride and her gals and they all gathered around and helped each other with their beautiful pink Indian style dresses and Lenel wore her first of two dresses of the day. Her first was a bright and later, for the reception, she wore a silver gown.

Nehal wore traditional Indian threads for the baratt and ceremony and changed into a sharp blue suit and bowtie for the reception.

The celebration started with the baratt and it was a great party. The whole wedding danced, sang, and laughed as Nehal rode into the ceremony location on the largest white horse we have all seen. It was a site, for sure, and with the music and dancing, it will surely be a cherished memory for all in attendance. When he reached the ceremony, he was greeted by the officiant and Lenel’s parents who, along with his parents, walked him in.

The ceremony was very traditional and beautiful. The setting was outdoors overlooking a cornfield and the ceremony traditions took place under a tiny open-walled temple. As Lenel entered with her parents, it began to sprinkle and proceeded to do so for the remainder of the ceremony, but everyone just enjoyed the moment and went with the flow. The love and beauty of the day was not hindered by a little rain.

At the reception, each guest was surprised to find a photo shaped like a polaroid of themselves which held their table number. The tent was decked out in eucalyptus, sage, and florals with gold utensils at each table setting.

St. Andrews Golf and Country Club | West Chicago, IL | Lauren + Nick

st andrews golf and country club wedding – elite photo Lauren and Nick were married on a very pretty, very warm day in May at the St. Andrews Golf and Country Club in West Chicago, Illinois. They had six bridesmaids and six groomsman and there was always a lot of laughing and joking going on. Everyone was very laid back and fun. I would like to say all was perfect, but as often happens on wedding days, there’s often those unexpected events out of your control you just need to be able to roll with. Lauren had a doozy. The day of the wedding, her Mom woke up feeling as if she had been hit with the worst flu you could imagine. They were even worried she might not be able to make it to the wedding. The day before, she felt perfectly fine and they had a ball at the rehearsal and the day of the wedding she could barely walk. Lauren, along with everyone else, handled it perfectly, though. Relying on her Mom to do a lot of the organizing the day of, her Aunt and bridesmaids quickly stepped up and helped fill in some of the Mother of the Bride duties. Mom was able to make it to the wedding, but needed to use a wheelchair for her processional and the rest of the day.

I know all the details of the day, the dress, the weather, and who and who is not there is so important to couples, but in the end no matter what…. you still get married and it’s one of the happiest memories of your life.
