Brandy and Alex were married on a really pretty Saturday in June. This day was so memorable for me due to the circumstances and to the gentle and kind nature of both the bride and groom. Besides being a fabulous, stunning couple…. they were two of the nicest, most genuinely beautiful souls.
Being from out-of-state, Brandy in Virginia and Alex in Georgia, Brandy and Alex had a challenge ahead of them to plan their destination wedding in Batavia, IL, where Brandy’s Grandmother lived. They had decided to move the wedding up to June from December as Alex’s mother was very ill. They weren’t sure it would work as Alex was just getting off duty in the service and was set to go to Ranger School in either June or July. Luckily… they found out 2 weeks before the wedding he would start in July so the wedding was a “Go”.
As you can see from their images….. the bride, with the help of her close friends and family, created a beautiful day and very intimate event for all who could attend. Elite Photo was so happy to be able to capture the love and caring this couple shared for one another.
Brandy and Alex agreed it was OK to share the fact Alex’s mother, Pam, lost her battle with cancer two days before the wedding. Being from Michigan, his Father was not able to attend, but they were able to broadcast the entire wedding to him via Skype. They flew out for the funeral the next day as it was scheduled for Monday. I include this information so you, the reader, can understand all this lovely day involved for this young couple just starting their new lives together.
You would think this sounds sad, and it definitely is, but there was joy and love and happiness at this wedding. Brandy and Alex had a late day ceremony at 6:30pm, so they chose to have a first look earlier in the day. This is a great idea for couples with late day weddings who won’t have a lot of time after the ceremony to take pictures. They had a quiet moment at the Japanese Gardens and later their friends and family joined them for the rest of the photographs they wanted captured. It was a lot of fun walking around the park and they were able to take their time and just enjoy their moments. Side note: Alex e-mailed me a few days after the wedding and said Brandy was nervous as she was walking up to him for the first look. I would be too. It’s a very big moment.
The couple was married at the beautifully remodeled First Baptist Church on Geneva (the East Campus) and had their reception at the Eagle Brook Country Club.
Brandy walking up to Alex for the first look. She was nervous. 🙂
I think he was a little nervous, too.
The Father of the Groom was able to watch the wedding via Skype and the Mac on the pedestal in the front.
Congratulations to Brandy and Alex!!!!!!!!
