First of all, I met Nick and Jessica after Nick contacted me to photograph their engagement session last fall. It was a beautiful evening at the Morton Arboretum and Nick brought along a bouquet of flowers as a surprise during the session. It was extremely touching. They hadn’t yet decided on a location for their wedding or even chosen a wedding photographer and I was extremely thankful after they received their images from the engagement shoot they made it official and asked me to photograph their wedding, as well.
Their wedding day was the first brisk fall-like day of the year. It ended up being a perfect afternoon and set the scene for Jessica’s entrance out of the vineyard as she walked across the field to Nick. I was photographing him as she emerged and I could tell she actually took his breath away. He literally lost his breath. I even had blurry eyes for a moment. The whole moment was priceless. Jessica wore a fitted gown with an attached tulle skirt and a cathedral length veil with delicate lace and crystal embroidery. Nick looked smashing in his custom Enzo suit in blue with a tangerine tie.
After the ceremony, the family took photos under the old oak tree and the wedding party enjoyed a ride around the vineyard for pictures complete with appetizers and drinks. This group was so much fun and I could tell how much they all loved Nick and Jessica.
The colors of the day were blue, tangerine, and berry. The flowers were all designed and put together by Nick’s Mom, Beverly, and there were tons of roses and dahlias (my absolute favorite).
My personal favorite moment of the day? Nick and Jessica are both very athletic and as the sun was setting, Jessica asked if we could go to the prairie for a photo. It was almost dark, so she took off running in her dress and shoes with Nick, Maggie, and I running behind. It was so much fun and we ended up getting some favorite shots in the golden rod at dusk.
Thanks to the staff at Orchard Ridge Farms in Rockton, Illinois for doing such a fantastic job, once again, on a beautiful wedding. They even pulled off the perfect sparkler exit for the couple.
Loved this day and everyone who was a part of it. xoxo – Missy
I loved the anticipation in this moment. Married on a hill under two very large oak trees, Jessica had a long walk from her hiding spot in the vineyard to Nick, under the oaks. He was able to watch her walk towards him for quite a bit of time and I loved hearing his comments of “wow” and “gosh” and by the time she got to him, he was just bursting with excitement to marry his bride. Jessica, you could tell, was the same way. They were meant to be together and that one to two minute walk was like watching two magnets getting closer and closer to one another.
