We loved capturing this modern and vibrant Chicago farm wedding at Heritage Prairie in Elburn, Illinois. This venue is an actual working farm that just happens to also provide an amazing location and experience for couples looking for a country wedding, but near the big city.
Sitting around the breakfast table discussing what’s to become of the day takes on a whole new meaning when it just happens to be YOUR wedding day. Weddings at this venue often begin with a farm to table array of delectable fruits, veggies, and flavorful breakfast or lunch items. Not only did this day start out delicious, but it ended in what I would consider the very best wedding dinner I have ever had. Guests enjoyed focaccia with whipped honey butter, mushroom and onion polenta, vegetable tart, and many more chef specialties.
The palette for the day was set by the couple (Shira and Jacob) as either floral or something in the blue family. Shira wore a simple floral crown perfect for the big day and all the groomsmen wore statement blue and rose ties made by the talented Lonesome Traveler.
The Jewish ceremony started with a traditional Katubah signing in the farm house loft followed by a ceremony under the big oak tree overlooking the fields of produce growing for the farm. I LOVED the couples vows they made for each other. Jacob actually did a real, live, on-the-spot mad lib for his vows to Shira. It might sound a little funny, and it WAS hilarious, but it also was very personal and fit this fun loving couple to a “T”.
The bride and groom each chose both men and women to be their personal attendants rather than going the traditional “all groomsmen” and “all bridesmaids” on each side.
Other favorite details for this wedding event included random visits to and from the farm animals. Carl, the cat, is a favorite of mine with his own Instagram page @badkittycarl. Guests enjoyed eating off mismatched china and danced the night away in between trips to the fire to make smores and gaze at the stars.
This wedding has been featured exclusively on Outre’ Bride.
From the Bride:
How or where did you meet? We met at a Pitchfork Festival via a mutual friend and coworker in music. Jacob waited and dated until I was single because he knew I was the one!!! Once I was single, he was late to our first date and made me split the bill, but he charmed me later with an epic karaoke rendition of “Forever Young”.
Thank you to this couple for choosing Elite Photo to photograph this amazing Chicago farm wedding day. Enjoy!
