Courtney and Jared’s backyard wedding was a festival of beautiful décor, wonderful family, delicious food, and lots of love. The bride wore the Nicoletta gown by Haley Paige. The criss-cross spaghetti straps and the appliqued bodice fit her perfectly and the full tiered tulle skirt was, well, perfect. She carried a bridal white bouquet of fresh peonies as did her maids. The girls wore flowing mauve rose gowns with options to tie them however fit their style. The men wore stylish black tuxes from GQ menswear.
The couple had their wedding and reception at the bride’s childhood home in Batavia, Illinois. Driving into the estate, you are welcomed by signs of the event to come, a large tent with white flags, and a ceremony location guarded by two separate ponds, each named after Courtney and her twin sister, TJ.
There were so many unique touches and details at this wedding. Courtney’s family filled the bridal suite with tempting small plates and sweets they knew she would love. Her father made a permanent trellis with climbing vines in which they hung crystals and lace for the ceremony. More family made a cedar entrance for the processional and one of my favorite details of all were the 8 oz jars of BBQ sauce Courtney, Jared, and her Dad made for their guests as favors at the end of the night. I was lucky enough to sample their Godfather’s award-winning sauce at dinner and I can see why it is so famous. It is without a doubt the absolute best BBQ I have ever had. No kidding. What a treat for their friends and family. Sorry, no recipe available. It is super secret.
The couple’s dog, Wrigley, was the ring bearer at the ceremony and the processional was accompanied by an acoustic guitar and flute. Reverend Jim Rehnberg, who happens to be my all-time favorite ceremony officiant, was their master of ceremonies and he, as always, had the guests laughing and crying.
After the plated dinner in the tent, the guests enjoyed a beautiful display of confections from the Coca Bean Fine Desserts and danced the night away to the Connexion Band who packed the dance floor all night. The veranda also had an assortment of fine cigars and cocktails.
Thank you to this couple for choosing Elite Photo as their wedding and engagement photographer. It has definitely been my pleasure.
